Essay on Corruption

hi friends today i am sharing an important topic corruption, it is down rooted in all sector from lower cadre to higher cadre, and i would like to tell you about fighting corruption is not just good governance. It’s self-defence. please kindly suggest any queries in comment section friends.

                                                        CORRUPTION
Good governance is a very essential prerequisite for proper functioning of a government. However, corruption in the system leads to the loopholes hampering the basic pillars of good governance- transparency, accountability. Corruption, Prostitution and Theft are as old as Human civilisation. These malices of society are well represented in various mythologies, upanishad's, samhita and veda's which forms documentation of Indian Culture of olden times.
Corruption was present and prevalent during old times are evident from one insatance in Mahabharata:- In Mahabharata it is mentioned that, when sudhama started his journey to meet lord krishna, He had a bag full of rice flakes, but as he crossed each provinces, guards at nagar dwaraka asked for share of rice flakes as a Bribe. Hence, when Sudhama reached Dwaraka, he was left only with handful of rice flakes. It shows that bribing existed in those time also and were part of Indian culture.

Corruption exists where ever there is manual intervention in public authority and personal greed dominating over public duty. In India, because of vast poverty and gap between public authority and public created reason for corruption more.
Mahatma Gandhi also reiterated the same when he said, Earth’s Provide Enough To Satisfy Every Man’s Need But Not Every Man’s Greed.
HOW FIGHTING CORRUPTION IS SELF DEFENCE--

India got Independence in 1947 and it was slowly becoming strong and developing but in the mid-way, the Disease of  Corruption started and stop India to Grow ahead. India's ranking on Corruption Perception Index 2016, 79th among 176 countries also retierates the same.
During the past few years, the images of the country has been defaced beyond redemption. A large number of scams, such as Indian Coal Allocation, 2G Spectrum,  Common Wealth, Satyam Scam etc involving top politicians, administrators and VVIPs have come to light. These scams, most of them unearthed by the Central Bureau of Investigation, involve huge sums running into thousands of crores. They have shaken the entire conscience of the country to the bones.
As Said “Corruption is a tree, whose branches are of an immeasurable length; they spread everywhere.”
Strongholds of corruption are the departments like the P.W.D., Railways, Tele-communication, Banks, department dealing with exports and imports, taxes, quota-permits and licences. Documents and office files to not move unless we grease the plam of the concerned officials. One cannot get the official copy of court judgement from the copying agency in a court unless one pays a fat sum to the agency typist in addition to the official court fee.An honest man’s application is subjected to delay by red-tapism.
It inhibits the individual growth as well as society and country growth and development. The great leaders of the India who have fought their whole life for removing corruption and other social issues completely from the society. It is the very shameful condition for us that even after losing various great lives, we are not able to understand our real responsibilities.
Albert Einstein once said, "The World Will Not Be Destroyed By Those Who Do Evil, But By Those Who Do Watch Them Without Doing Anything".
The general perception is that most of the ministers,  politicians, bureaucrats and government employees at all levels are corrupt. This appears to be true though there may be some exceptions. However, one needs to keep in mind, the citizens of India ,large percentage have indulged in corrupt practices at one time or the other.
TO ILLUSTRATE--In purchasing a plot or selling a house, how many can say that they have never paid part of the money in Cash to avoid Tax. How many can say that they refused to Bribe A Policeman When Caught For Traffic Violation and instead of paying the bribe, opted to go to the police station and pay the fine which could be much higher. How many can say that they have not paid the "School Fees Donation to educational institutions for admission of their children .
Not  Saccumbing  to Any Kind of Greed is a Glare Example Of Self  Defence While tackling corruption. All of those who support  Anna Hazare and his team should be encouraged. But, the unfortunate fact is that most of those supporters will not be able to swear that they have never been the beneficiary of corruption.
In Artha Shastra, Chanakya says "Prosecute and provide a harsh sentence to the corrupt higher ranking officers"

To restore public’s faith in the government, and to set an example to the corrupt lower ranking officials" and it could be should be equivalent to Treason. However, we can not blame who is responsible for corruption, instead, help to overcome corruption. If every one of us gets aware of thyself and put a little effort, our country can be beautiful, no one will sleep hungry, and lot many problems of our country can be resolved.
As the saying goes, "As Long As There Are Fishes to Catch There Will Always Be Fisherman."
Corruption can be eliminated, only if the fight against corruption would take place in the minds and hearts of the citizens. It requires quality crusaders and Democracy cannot flourish in the absence of good governance. So, we conclude that, corruption and good-governance are like preys and predators, which can't co-exist.
