India is a land of diversities. This diversity is also visible in the spheres of religion. The major religions of India are Hinduism (majority religion), Islam (largest minority religion), Sikhism, Christianity, Buddhism, Jainism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism and the Bhai Faith. India is a land where people of different religions and cultures live in harmony. This harmony is seen in the celebration of festivals. The message of love and brotherhood is expressed by all the religions and cultures of India.

Whether it's the gathering of the faithful, bowing in prayer in the courtyard of a mosque, or the gathering of lamps that light up houses at Diwali, the good cheer of Christmas or the brotherhood of Baisakhi, the religions of India are celebrations of shared emotion that bring people together. People from the different religions and cultures of India, unite in a common chord of brotherhood and amity in this fascinating and diverse land.
The predominant religion in ancient India was Hinduism. The roots of Hindu religion can be traced back to the Vedic period. Hinduism is believed to be the oldest of major religions and originated in northern India. It is interesting to note that much of ancient, classical and modern Indian culture has been greatly shaped by Hindu thought. Besides Hinduism, other main religions during ancient India were Buddhism, and Jainism. Buddhism originated in northern India in what is today the state of  Bihar. It rapidly gained adherents during the Buddha's lifetime. Up to the 9th century, Indian followers numbered in the hundreds of millions. Since India has been rank 135 in freedom of press index. The religion is great threat our economy because Religion divides people. Such divisions may come in the way of development of the country. Every religion has a set of beliefs which may be superstitious quite often. Such ideas block the development of society and the progress of individuals. Religion acts as a hindrance for social change. It is highly challenging to transform the attitude of people.
No matter how diverse the religions are, they all use some kind of artwork as an interpretation of their beliefs and practices. Religion is what makes human beings different. They set the values and cultures for each race, and for some people their entire way of living, depends on religion.
