MARRIAGE-IT'S IMPACT ON SOCIETY

Increasing number of couples deciding to cohabit without marriage- An indication of inevitable social transformation or a moral hazard--
In Every Disagreement Either In Marriage or Co Habit Without Marraige, There Is One Important Truth "Your Partner Is Not your Enemy"

Cohabitation might be a new term but the concept is ancient. In the Vedas, we find a mention of eight types of marriages, one of which is the Gandharva type, in which a man and a woman mutually consent to get married. This neither involves the family of the couple nor a particular ritual to solemnise the marriage. It is just a word-of-mouth commitment. But it still comes under the purview of marriage. Although a couple were united by means of a Gandharva vivaaha, the commitment and responsibility was identical to any of the other types of marriages ordained in the traditional texts.
With changing times the dimensions of commitment have changed as a result people are exploring for alternatives to marriage. Of late, live in relationships have emerged as substitutes of marriage. The number of people opting for live in relationships is increasing notably in the metro cities (i.e) Delhi, Banglore, Mumbai. Hence, India Is A Country which is slowly opening its door for western ideas and lifestyle one of the most crucial episodes is amongst is,it is the concept of Live In Relationship. The Supreme Court also opined that a man and women living together without marriage can not Constructed as Offence like several other countries Scotland, France, United Kingdom, Canada etc..
One development that has caught everyone's attention in recent times has been the amendment to section 125 of CRPC proposed by The National Commission for Women to include female live in partners in the definition of Wife and other one is when government extended economic rights to women in live in relation under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005.
First Indian Women Prime Minister Indira Gandhi Once Said, My Father Was A Statesmen, I am a Political Women. My Father was a Saint, I am not. This Implies, Owing to Globalization and Intrusion Of Western Culture into the Indian fabric, has led the younger generation to have a broad opinion and rationally figure out what they want and This made our generation to think differently as compared to the previous generations.
The concept of a live-in relationship,is averse to the religious significance, faced resentment from the commoners living in India or have been a taboo right since the British raj. But It has to be understood that emotional bindings and relationships cannot be pressed upon by the society to mould into a socially accepted unison unless and until the couple wants it to be. The freedom of choose what one wants without the cringe of a moral and ethical question is the basic essence of a democratic country like India. Hence In Contemporary India Transformation Is Bound To Happen.
The younger generation might consider live-in relationships to be Convenient, Free Of  Hassles and Forward Looking, However, that is only the ideal case. but in reality they are extremely tricky (i.e) couples have differences in opinion, fights, changes in career paths etc
To Illustrate--If a woman accuses a man of Assault, before any investigation, he is immediately taken into police custody and can be harassed for days if the woman has a good lawyer (or vice versa in rare cases). A large number of such cases recorded in India have been found to be fake. On the other hand, if a live-in is considered as marriage and the man has force himself over woman, she cannot do much given that Martial Rape is not Illegal in India. Again, a large number of cases in India go unrecorded for one reason or another. Further, the our Judiciary and Legal Courses is riddled with obstacles or delays and confusions when it comes to Inheritance, Alimony, and Right Of Children born from such relationships.
Though marriages also have their pros and cons, no relationship enjoys the social and legal recognition as a marriage does. Since a marriage is protected by law, couples expect loyalty and fidelity from each other. Though marriages also have their ups and downs with an increasing number of couples going for Divorces in recent years.

As said "We Will Either Win Together or We Will Loss Together".

Hence, The evolution of the concept of marriage is a difficult thing to trace because Birth of a Man is Birth of Marriage. It is a practise that seems as old as the human race itself.Tracing the roots in ancient India, marriage was considered necessary for the complete fulfilment of the purpose of life of men and women without it was believed they could not achieve Moksha.
As Said, "Sometimes The Things We Can Not Change End Up Changing Us".
On one hand, a section of society is of the view that it will dilute the sacred institution of marriage and consider it to be a sin. On the other hand the liberal minds of the society considers it as a progressive and forward looking concept which allows the younger generation to check their compatibility with their partners before entering permanent commitment through valid legal marriage
Mother Theresa Said, "We Ourselves Feel That What We Are Doing Is Just A Drop In The Ocean. But If That Drop Were Not There; Ocean Would Be Less By That Missing Drop".
Hence, It has to be realised and understood that adult unmarried couples who wish to live together under the same roof, should not be Prohibited or Victimised. This will harm the Democratic setup of the country we all live in. The judiciary’s pro-active efforts to safeguard the interest of such couples and protect them from the outburst of the primitive and conditioned mindset of the people is a welcome step. However, in India, marriage continues to be the institution that is preferred to any other form of union.

Our ancients said "marriages are made in heaven".
