"Infinite faith and strength are the only conditions of success"
Hi, friends today I would like to share my ideas regarding environmental issues in our world, it is one of the greatest problems not only in India, but also in the entire world. Degradation of forests causing damage to the earth, water bodies etc..The problems that we are facing today discussed in detail in the essay, prepare well, thank you friends.

Essay - Degradation of forests
You know, people keep on
saying 'Rome was not built in a day '. They explain the meaning and provide
insights in the saying. They say, it takes resources, hard work, patience and
the most precious 'time' to build something extraordinary, beautiful and
spectacular. Yeah, sure whatever..... I mean still we can render it in pieces,
destroy it, desolate it, desertify it within seconds. We got capability,
technology and the right mindset of not giving a damn. Sadly, its true and
completely relevant in the context of our environment and our ever-evolving
lifestyle.
Forests are sign of
lushness, greenery, life, support and sacrifice. It is well known fact, that
they are instrumental and indispensable to our existence. Despite, we resort to
activities that are detrimental to the nature. We cut trees ,burn forests, kill
wildlife to clear the space for our own economic and recreational purposes.
But, what we don't do is carry out plantation drive and afforestation to revive
the lost part.
Earth took million of
years to shape the earth as we see it today. Many geo-chemical and physical
processes over a period of time resulted in a liveable earth. Earth even has a
feedback mechanism to deal with the imbalances that are naturally created. So,
all humans need to do is not try to distort the natural equilibrium. But, its
disappointing to see that we fail in doing that.
So, here we would try to find out the reasons
for such a failure on ourselves, try to suggest some solutions if any. Now there
must be reasons (although deniable) that compel us to create a desert than a
forest WITH THAT EASE. These reasons can resonate with various human entanglements
throughout such as, to carry out simple agriculture activity or for highways
etc.. Also the topic does not limit our thinking to saving nature alone, but it
can be seen in other important aspects of life and has been practiced
throughout in different forms, be it historical ,social, political, economical,
global, technological etc.
Historically, human,
wildlife and nature has coexisted and evolved simultaneously ,maintaining the
balance of flow of energy and matter. This can be seen even today in tribal
areas globally ,how tribes coexist with surrounding without disturbing the
balance. But as history suggests, it took merely a few barrel of bullets, bombs
and tanks to destroy the forests as well as the associated life with it just to
satiate the human hunger for land and dominance. The colonialists cleared massive
forested land in colonies like in America and Indian northeast for intensive
plantation, which left many hundred acres of land lifeless and barren. There is
economics attached to most of the human actions.
And so, socially and
economically speaking, the trades and globalisation necessitated connectivity
for which forests are cleared to build roads, highways, railway lines and
dockyards it became essential to set up massive industries which put pressure
on nature. The new farming techniques with extensive use of pesticides and
fertillizers, over irrigation have led the farms lifeless and deserted. It is
so, because it is easy to adopt such actions than to use organic fertillizer
and natural farming techniques that require some patience, innovativeness and time
to adopt. According to UNCCD, nearly 25 percentage of global productive land is
now highly deserted and next 8 percent under stress.
The rampant ill practices
have rendered oceans deserted as well. The dumping of waste, oil leaks and
palstics chokes marine life. To dispose of the waste using soild waste material
techniques seems difficult for us. It finds an important place at individual
and social relationships too. Today hate, intolerance and disharmony is being
spreaded across communities and societies. This has destabilising implication
for the social framework and social fabric. This is easier than to build that
harmony, tolerance and acceptance which our forefathers and freedom fighters
over a period of time have established through blood and sweet. Thus, it easy
to destroy something than to create it.
Politically, also much has
not been done to safeguard our forests. There are several institutions acting
nationally and globally to conserve forests. Despite such efforts ,we witness
climate change and experience its impact. The act of not doing anything or
trying is equal to destroying something. A sound example is the CAMPA funds
meant for afforestation. This fund remained useless in government accounts. The
inactiveness by authorities here is not due to some compulsion, but because its
easier to let things happen than to start a afforestation drive which would
take efforts and some work.
Globally, the
sensitisation and awareness is being spread through international agencies to
actively contribute to nature conservation. Even nations have agreed to come
with INDCs to speed up the environment conservation efforts and reduce climate
change. The recent example is Paris agreement or cop 21. However, nations
across the globe have done or initiated positive conservation efforts at very
low level.
This has been made obvious
by the recent IPCC report. Even countries have engaged themselves in some sort
of war that is destroying structures, life, nature and civilisations. Syria,
Iraq, Afghanistan etc, touted to be part of one of the oldest civilisation
mesopotamia, with its rich culture and remains has been ravaged by war,
destroyed in pieces, and brought to dust in matter of decades. Here we can
observe that the destruction needs no time and is easier as compared to the
time it tool to build or create that civilisation.
In today's world,
technology is very dependable tool to do something. It takes years of research,
experiments and observation to create a technology, but to destroy using that
technology is possible within seconds. Nuclear or atomic technology was created
with lots of patience and research to find an alternative source of less
polluting and long lasting power generation. But, in 1945 it was a matter of
minutes when a happy, prosperous and lively city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was
rendered deserted.
So, we infer that there are several possible explanations
for destroying something, but there is only one explanation to create anything
and that is its NECESSITY. It depends on us, in what way we wanna proceed to
pursue our aim. Yes, it takes a lot of effort to build or create something
remarkable, but is it not worth praising and to celebrate the sheer effort,
work, patience and time it took to create. In our indian culture it is often
said that “SAVIOUR IS AT HIGHER PEDESTAL AND COMES FIRST THAN DESTROYER”. We
should also remember that it takes massive amount of time hardwork and
technical know how to build a building, but it just needs someone to pull out a
single brick to collapse it.
